Kiwanis Supports Projects and Programs through Grants

The Kiwanis Club Of Lincoln is an ardent supporter of projects and programs that align with Kiwanis objectives. Our primary mission is to improve the lives of the youth in our community. We do this by offering grants and contributing to Lincoln community organizations, events and programs. Our primary fundraiser is Sees Candy sales during all major holidays. Beginning in 2023, we added a second fundraiser—community bingo.

Grant I

We award grants as part of our annual budget process for each upcoming year. (The fiscal year runs from October 1st through September 30th.)  

Recipients and amounts are determined by the club’s historical and current community knowledge and awareness, along with our annual strategic goals and objectives. 

We have proudly supported:

  • The Salt Mine
  • The Foundry
  • WPUSD Elementary and Primary School Libraries
  • Scholarships to Lincoln, Phoenix, and Twelve Bridges High School Graduates
  • Sober Grad Night- Lincoln High School
  • The Police Activities League (PAL)
  • The Compassion Planet 
  • The Kiwanis Family House 
  • The Lincoln High School Choir

Grant II

Nonprofit organizations, activities and projects focused on community youth are eligible to apply for a club grant. Grants range depending on fundraising results and on needs from a few hundred to a few thousand. Our current objectives focus on childhood literacy and education, health and safety.

Grants need to be resubmitted annually. Past grant recipients include:

  • Ham radio club of Glen Edwards Middle School        
  • Jessup University “School Safety Conference” 
  • Back to school bash (DLA)          
  • July 4th fireworks committee          
  • The Eagle Scouts          
  • Lincoln High School Wrestling Team
  • Lincoln high School Boys Baseball Team
  • Lincoln High School Girls Softball 
  • Troop 160 Boy Scouts
  • Elementary School’s Physical Education Uniforms
  • Latino Leadership Council —books for “Mommy and Me” (pre-school reading program)

Grant Request Process

The Kiwanis Club of Lincoln welcomes funding requests from local organizations and individuals who support our club's goals.

1.  Complete a grant application and return to the Kiwanis Club Of Lincoln. Applications may be returned in person, by mail or by email.

2.  After receiving the grant application, a grants committee member will contact you for a brief conversation to help us understand the financial need, objectives and history of the program or activity.
3.  Grant requests are reviewed by the Board of Directors of Kiwanis Club Of Lincoln and applicants are typically notified in 2 to 4 weeks. (Our Board of Directors currently meets the second Thursday of each month.)
